Hey there, everyone! I’m Lucita, an adorable, very affectionate white with tan Chihuahua gal who weighed 3 pounds when I was two months old but am expected to weigh 8-10 pounds when I’m full grown. Although I’m a little shy when I first meet new people, I warm up quickly once I feel comfy. I get along great with the other small resident dog in my foster home.
The owner of my momma Cleo had financial reverses and could not afford to pay the apartment pet deposit when Cleo birthed my brother Bambi and me. Fortunately, my owner's kind-hearted neighbor, who happens to be a HOPE cat foster mom, stepped up to the plate and got us all into the HOPE foster program to help us find our forever homes.
I had previously led a sheltered existence since my former owner had kept me outside on a small patio most of the time. Not only am I inside the majority of the time now where I can cuddle with my foster mom, but also I’ve already learned to walk expertly on a leash. A whole new world of dogs and people has been opened up to me! I’m very bonded with Bambi, and we have a blast playing with each other all day long – until we crash from exhaustion. I’m already kennel trained but am still working on my house training.
Now I’m ready to bring my winsome puppy charm and playfulness to my forever home. Could that be you? Although we’re available separately, Bambi and I think it’d be the cat’s meow if we could be adopted together so we could be playmates and cuddle buddies while you’re at work or on vacation. Lucita's $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas.
