Calliope #miss-congeniality
Estimated DOB 3/25/24, weight 40 lbs.
This young girl Calliope is very sweet and playful, and has energy to spare! Her foster home has several dogs and Calliope wants to play -- er -- wrestle with all of them. She loves to go on walks, meet new people, play with her stuffed animal toys, and snuggle on the couch for movie time.
Calliope was abandoned in the parking lot of a PetSmart but fortunately, her future foster mom worked at the store and scooped her right up! Calliope knows Sit and Wait, and likes to sleep in her crate at night.
Calliope would love a home where she can get lots of attention and exercise as well as have a canine brother or sister to play with. Is that you?
HOPE ID D24-1116-0045
Calliope's $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas.

Charles #husky-poster-dog
DOB 5/29/21, weight 74 lbs.
Meet Charles! This stunning boy is large for this breed but otherwise could be the Siberian Husky poster dog. He has a “woolie” coat and, like all Huskies, a double coat. Charles would do great living in a cold climate!
Charles is very sociable and can be affectionate and seek human attention too. He is good with children, very gentle. He rarely barks or howls except when he hears sirens when outside. He is basically low-energy and very calm for the breed. He will play tag/wrestle-mania with his sibling sister, Mary Beth, which often becomes very animated. Trips to the dog park, walks in the neighborhood and treats really excite Charles. He needs some physical activity every day. If given the chance he will escape and needs tall and secure fencing.
Charles would be a great addition to a pet parent that is familiar with the Husky breed and is looking for a new family member. He has spent his whole life with his sibling sister Mary Beth, but they do not have to be adopted together as long as he has another large dog in his life.
HOPE ID D25-0517-0028
Charles’s $200 adoption fee includes the neuter, vaccines, microchip, negative heartworm test, negative fecal test, and monthly prevention for heartworms and fleas. To apply online, go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php.
Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Charles will be at this weekend, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com and a volunteer will get back to you.

Inky #snaggletoothed-sweetie
DOB 8/1/25, weight 9.5 #
Hey there, everyone! I’m Inky, a charming, self-assured, and devoted black wire-haired Chihuahua /Yorkshire Terrier mix gal who’s got a huge personality despite my small size. I have an adorable underbite which helps everyone I meet fall in love with me. I like nothing better than to be nestled in my foster mom’s lap – except perhaps to be treated like a big dog and to get regular exercise. That’s no problem for me because I already walk well on a leash.
My former owner abandoned me on the balcony when they moved out of their apartment. I waited all alone for several days because I expected them to return for me, but they never did. Thank heavens Foster Mom has a special place in her heart for homeless Chihuahuas, so when she heard about my precarious predicament, she immediately brought me to the comfort and safety of her home. She was delighted that I was fine with the other small dogs, cats, and kids in her household. That said, other dogs scare me, so I would prefer to be an "only-dog-child." Plus I’m a fast learner – despite my young age, I’m already housetrained and crate-trained.
Now I’m ready to bring along my adorable snaggletooth smile and flagpole tail when I become the pint-sized shaggy dog of my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me! You might be able to fit me inside your purse when you take me home, where I plan to spend plenty of quality of time in your lap.
HOPE ID 26-0325-0019
Inky’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas.

Isha #loyal-lassie
DOB 4/1/21, weight 54#
Hey there, everyone! I’m Isha, a very sweet, outgoing, and eager-to-please black Border Collie/shepherd mix gal with a white dot on my chest who socializes with everyone – adults, kids, and medium/large dogs as well as cats and small dogs as long as we’re properly introduced. From my outward appearance, it looks like my canine heritage has been herding sheep, and although I haven’t found any sheep in Houston, I have inherited the shepherdess’ intelligence, intense loyalty, devotion to duty, and untiring work ethic. I humbly believe that those four qualities make me the perfect canine companion!
My previous owners kept me in their yard, tied to a tree where my friendly energy was suppressed. I was miserable, but thank heavens, the gardener noticed my plight and convinced my owner to surrender me to HOPE because they could find a family who would provide me a more enriched life. I’m so much happier interacting with all the people, dogs, and cats in my foster home as well as whom I meet on my daily walks! I’m proud to say that leash-training, housetraining, and kennel-training were all a snap. (Remember I told you that I’m very intelligent – just give me a job to do!)
Now I’m ready to bring my sweet affection, lithe agility, and intrinsic devotion to bless my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today! I’m eager to be your perfect canine chum and to enrich your life as well as mine!

Lucas #ready-to-snuggle
Estimated DOB 10/29/19, weight 55 pounds
Hello! My name is Lucas, and I was abandoned at a vet clinic where I was tied to the front door. Fortunately, the clinic found a client who agreed to take me in and foster me. The vet helped get me hooked up with an adoption program, so here I am, a HOPE dog now!
I love playing with balls and squeaky toys, going running with my foster mom’s neighbor, and sunning in the backyard in nice weather. I like to play with other dogs, but I like to wrestle. It looks/sounds rough, so I may be better as the only-pet child.
I'm a smart boy who already knows "sit." I'm crate trained, bilingual, and ready to snuggle with you! Arrange to meet me today!
HOPE ID: D23-0211-0010

Lucy #great-with-children
Est. DOB 4/8/18, weight 62 lbs.
Beautiful Lucy, a gentle, loving girl who is great with children, enjoys car rides and walks in the neighborhood where she is on squirrel patrol! She especially enjoys going with her mom to dog-friendly café’s with outdoor seating where she gets to soak up the wait-staff’s attention and perhaps have a pup cup. She loves playing tug-of-war in the backyard with any dog toy, and she occasionally goes to the dog park and doggy day care.
Lucy is looking for a new home now that her mom has downsized to an apartment and no longer has a backyard for Lucy to run around in. She was rescued from the street – a car wash to be exact -- when she was just a youngster and has lived with a small dog ever since.
Lucy’s ideal home would be with a family who would include her in family outings such as trips to the kid’s baseball games or walks along the bayou walking trails. At the end of a busy day, she loves nothing more than relaxing and some quiet downtime with her people. She would enjoy living with another easygoing, calm, small/medium-sized dog friend. Or she could be a solo girl, but no cats, please.

Lucy’s $200 adoption fee includes the spay, vaccines, microchip, negative heartworm test, negative fecal test, and monthly prevention for heartworms and fleas. To apply online, go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php.

Mary Beth #ms-congeniality
DOB 5/29/21, weight 38 lbs.
Meet Mary Beth! This gorgeous girl is on the smaller size for a Husky, but what she lacks in size, she makes up for with her winning personality. She is very sociable and seeks human attention. She is good with children, very gentle, and very affectionate (and gives face kisses). She rarely barks or howls, and she is not a good guard dog for alerting to people at the door. Mary Beth would do great living in a cold climate!
She is typically high energy and athletic, being both fast and agile. She will play tag/wrestle-mania with her sibling brother Charles who is twice her size, which often becomes very animated. She gets really excited when she sees her leash that signals physical trips outside, either a walk in the neighborhood or a trip to the dog park. She does well at dog parks and is very socialized with other dogs.
Just like her sibling brother Charles, she needs physical activity every day or she’ll become bored. She is very smart and inquisitive. She loves to "help you" in the kitchen if it means a tasty treat for her. She is an escape artist and needs tall and secure fencing.
Mary Beth would be a great addition to a pet parent that is familiar with the Husky breed and is looking for a new family member. She has spent her whole life with her sibling brother Charles, but they do not have to be adopted together as long as she has another medium /large size dog in her life.

Meadow #happy-go-lucky
DOB 11/10/25, weight 35#
A happy-go-lucky girl, Meadow is a joy to have around. She loves all people and playing with other dogs. She is very food-driven, loves toys, (especially plushy /squeaky toys) and she adores playing with her sister, Willow. She is sweet, rather obedient, for a young puppy, and loves to fetch and bring back her ball.
Meadow and her sister Willow were found in her foster mom’s neighborhood dodging traffic, trying not to get hit by a car. Their sister wasn’t so fortunate, but these two girls were lucky because several people in the neighborhood came together to make sure they were rescued and got the vet care they needed.
Meadow is working on her leash manners and her potty training. She already knows “come” and “sit” as well as how to use the doggie door, and she is quite submissive with other dogs. She alerts her foster mom to the delivery person by barking but only when necessary, and she does not seem afraid of thunder or rain.
Meadow's ideal home would have another canine, perhaps a big brother who needs a little sister, a yard to romp in, a doggy door, and maybe some kids to grow up with.
HOPE ID 26-0313-0016
Meadow’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas.

Pablo #ball-of-energy
DOB 8/1/25, weight 15 #
Hey there, everyone! I’m Pablo, a sweet, friendly, and affectionate ball of energy who’s also a black Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix fella with four white slippers! I do best with lots of close family contact. Wouldn’t you know that cuddling in Foster Mom’s lap is my favorite spot and where I require plenty of quality time? I adore playing with the other small dogs in my foster home, and I get along great with the resident cats and with kids.
My size makes me an ideal apartment dog, but I relish my daily exercise. Nothing makes me happier than for Foster Mom to invest her time and energy into treating me like a big dog. I make it easy for her because, young as I am, I’m learning to walk on a leash and am crate-trained. True confessions: I’m still working on getting housebroken.
I was found wandering the mean streets of Houston. Thank heavens a Good Samaritan scooped me up because I was much too small and young to fend for myself. I was so grateful to be welcomed into my foster home, but I’m now ready to bring my adorable puppy perkiness and loving personality to my forever home. Could that be with you? Then arrange to meet me today! I promise to leave itsy-bitsy paw prints all over your heart.

Sammy #cheery-lap-dog
Est. DOB 1/7/15, WEIGHT 12.7 lbs.
Arf! Arf, everyone! I’m Sammy, a sweet, friendly, quiet, and affectionate white Maltipoo (Maltese/Mini Poodle mix) fella who is, in my humble opinion, the world’s greatest little dog. I think my foster mom agrees because she loves it that I curl up and settle in her lap whenever I can. There are two resident dogs and a cat in my foster home, but I’m much rather interact with beloved Foster Mom than play with them.
I have a comical idiosyncrasy: I like to burrow under anything I can move and get under. You name it – bedcovers, blankets, pillows, throws. Foster Mom thinks it’s adorable that a cute little thing such as I am likes to excavate my own little lair like a mole.
Let me tell you a little about Maltipoos. We’re gentle, social dogs who love people. Our happy, cheerful dispositions are guaranteed to boost your mood and make you smile. We can even be good therapy dogs because of the comfort we provide. And I’m no exception to this profile!
I really looked like a mess when my foster mom first rescued me! Oh my goodness – I weighed only 10 pounds! You could see every bone on my vertebrae, plus I had no hair on my back. My eyes were practically glued shut with “goop” from an infection; I also had an ear infection; and my mouth was a mess from neglected preventative dentistry.
Thank heavens Foster Mom and the vet have transformed me into a new man! With a steady diet of nutritious food, I’ve gained 2.5 pounds, I’m filling out nicely, and my fur is growing back! I’m eating a soft diet that’s appropriate after all of the diseased teeth (that hadn’t already fallen out) have been pulled. I look and feel so much better! And the silver lining about having no teeth is that I don't need any future dental cleanings!
Medications have cleared up my original eye and ear infections. The vet also diagnosed that I have a condition called “dry eye,” which means that I don’t produce tears like I should. So Foster Mom puts drops in my eyes twice a day and cleans out any “goop” once to twice a day Thanks to the hair around my eyes being clipped, Foster Mom can clean out my eyes easier. I have cataracts in both eyes so I have very limited visibility and bump into things, but get around once I've learned my way! I generally move slow so I don’t hurt myself !
Even though I sleep a good portion of the day, I am quite aware of sounds and scents. I will sound the alarm at unfamiliar noises. I will track Foster Mom down if she has moved from where I left her using my superior olfactory senses.
My ideal home would be one that has a doggie door to a small fenced back yard and someone to keep me company. I’m so grateful for all the love and attention that I’m getting! In return, I snuggle and cuddle like you wouldn’t believe! I’ve learned how to use the doggie door, and I’m now crate-trained.
If you’re looking for a cozy lap dog and can look past my limitations, I’d really like to be your dog! Half of my life is still ahead of me, so let’s spend it together! My heart has so much love to give, all that’s missing is YOU!

Susie #lovebug-extraordinaire
DOB 11/1/24, weight 32 lbs.
Meet Susie! If you’re looking for a dog who can keep up and cuddle hard after, Susie is your girl.
Susie was found running loose in North Houston and rescued by her foster mom — and she’s been soaking up the good life ever since. She’s athletic, fast, and obsessed with fetch and zoomies. She’d thrive with someone who enjoys daily walks or runs and wants a dog that’s always down for something fun. Susie is also smart and eager to learn, especially when cheese (or bully sticks) are involved. She knows Sit, is learning to wait for her release word at mealtime, and is working on leash walking, crate training, and kennel routines.
Once she’s had her activity, Susie flips into full lovebug mode. She gives the sweetest kisses, loves snuggling on the couch, and will happily curl up next to you (or in your lap) like she belongs there. Susie will do best with a dog-experienced adopter and a secure yard. She also needs to be the only female dog in the home — she prefers to be the leading lady.

Xena #blue-eyed-beauty
DOB 5/1/22, weight 65 pounds
Hey there, everyone! I’m Xena, a sweet, incredibly friendly, spirited Siberian Husky mix gal whose heart is as big as my beautiful blue eyes. Due to my congenial nature, I love making new friends, whether they’re hooman or other dogs. I’m always up for an adventure – whether it’s a hike, a run, or just a fun day at the park. When the day is done, though, I’m an affectionate gal who just wants to relax and cuddle with Foster Mom. Since I’m quite smart and eager to please, she’s had a joy training me.
It’s hard to believe that I was hanging out as a stray with no collar, tags, or chip outside of a game shop. Who would not tear the neighborhood apart searching for me -- unless I was abandoned because my owner couldn’t afford to keep me as their pet anymore? Ah well, I’m not looking back! I was making a homeless man very agitated because the game store was "his territory." Thank heavens Foster Mom brought me home to foster me when she was alerted to my situation, and she promises to find me the fantastic forever home that I deserve the second time around.
If you’re looking for a loyal, lovable, playful, and energetic companion for your active lifestyle, I’m ready to be your new best friend. Arrange to meet me today. I think you’ll find not only that am I stunningly beautiful eye candy, but also that spending time with me will a complete joy to your heart.
